"Lora tis a fine name fer a wee one," he commented, finding that he rather liked the way she brightened when speaking of her daughter. He wondered if the babe had her mother's red locks or perhaps her hazel eyes. He suddenly very much wanted to meet the child to satisfy his own curiosity.
"Tis nae a bother. Babes cry," he said giving a slight shrug of his shoulders. "I know me sister did when she was a wee one. Cried 'er 'ead righ' off she did. Nae matter wha' I o' Maximus did te calm 'er. She grew ou' o' it eventually. I be tryin' te get me Da' te let 'er come 'ere fer trainin' but fer now 'e says nae. I figure Ma' an' Maximus will wear 'im down good an' proper."
Merrick smiled broadly as he spoke of his family of which he was monumentally proud. It didn't matter that his father was a second son as he was a Baron in his own right. His brother was also a knight and heir to the barony. And his sister was being raised to be a proper lady, though his father was having a tough time settling on a suitor worthy of her. She was the apple of their eyes thus not just any person would do. And his mother was a strong woman, capable of handling their stubborn father with ease.
A strong wind blew up suddenly and Merrick caught a slight chill through his thick hide clothes. While he might be noble he was used to living a rough life and thus had grown accustomed to clothes befitting the road. Lady Moore however was not wearing such thick clothing and he grew concerned.
"Tis gettin' a bit cold up 'ere," he commented. "If ye be done wit' the air, may I escort ye back te yer room, m'lady?"
